This remote-reporting weather station is located on the west side of Interstate Highway 15 at the summit located several miles north of the junction with Interstate Highway 70.

This is one of many similar remote weather stations located along major highways in this region. The primary purpose of these stations is to monitor weather conditions so that the highway can be closed to traffic during severe weather conditions or that appropriate traffic warnings can be issued to the traveling public.

Instrumentation includes windvane, anemometer, thermometer, hygrometer, and precipitation detector. Data is transmitted via data link.
