EN: The former post office building was built in neo-Renaissance style 1891/92 next to the train station of Liestal. Architect was Hans Wilhelm Auer, who is mainly known as the creator of the Federal Palace in Bern. It is the central and most prominent building around the station square.
After the post moved to a new building just across the street in the 1970s, the former post became a cultural center, which became known by his new name "Kulturhaus Palazzo" beyond the borders of the region. Today, the cultural center houses a theater, a cinema, an exhibition space, a bookstore, art studios, several restaurants and a mosque.
DE: Das ehemalige Postgebäude wurde 1891/92 direkt am Bahnhof von Liestal in Neorenaissancestil erbaut. Architekt war Hans Wilhelm Auer, der vor allem durch das Bundeshaus in Bern bekennt ist. Es ist das zentrale und markanteste Gebäude um den Bahnhofplatz.
Nachdem die Post in den 1970er Jahren einen Neubau gleich gegenüber bezog, wurde die ehemalige Post zu einem Kulturhaus, das unter seinem neuen Namen "Kulturhaus Palazzo" über die Region hinaus bekannt wurde. Heute beherbergt das Kulturhaus ein Theater, ein Kino, einen Ausstellungsraum, eine Buchhandlung, Künstlerateliers, mehrere Restaurants und eine Moschee.
