EN: Bata-Park is an industrial site from the 1930s in Möhlin listed in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National Significance.

The site was designed by Tomáš Baťa modeled after the Czech town of Zlín as a comprehensive complex of production facilities with residential village for employees with complete infrastructure.

The area east of Möhlin covers an area of 24 hectares. It was purchased in 1931. The groundbreaking ceremony for the first factory was on May 10 1932. On the way to the official opening ceremony Tomáš Baťa died in a crash of his private airplane.

The Bata colony was further built as planned. In the 1950s, it had six factories, about 25 houses, a club house and auxiliary buildings.

Up to 750 employees had been working in the area until the shoe production was stopped in 1990. In 2001 the park was sold. The some-neglected building and the entire infrastructure is extensively renovated since 2012.


DE: Der Bata-Park ist ein unter Denkmalschutz stehendes Industriegelände aus den dreissiger Jahren in Möhlin, Kanton Aargau.

Das Areal wurde von Tomáš Baťa nach dem Vorbild des tschechischen Zlín als umfassender Komplex aus Produktionsanlagen mit Wohndorf für die Angestellten mit kompletter Infrastruktur geplant.

Das Areal östlich von Möhlin umfasst eine Fläche von 24 Hektaren. Es wurde 1931 gekauft. Am 10. Mai 1932 war der Spatenstich für die erste Fabrikhalle. Auf dem Weg zur offiziellen Eröffnungsfeier kam Tomáš Baťa beim Absturz seines Privatflugzeugs ums Leben.

Die Bata-Kolonie wurde wie geplant weitergebaut. In den 1950er-Jahren bestand sie aus sechs Fabrikhallen, etwa 25 Wohnhäusern, einem Klubhaus und Nebengebäuden.

Bis zu 750 Angestellte arbeiteten im Areal, bis die Schuhproduktion 1990 eingestellt wurde. 2001 wurde der Park verkauft. Die einige Zeit vernachlässigten Gebäude und die gesamte Infrastruktur wird seit 2012 umfassend saniert.
