This location is on the John Muir trail about 100 yards past the location for getting a good overall image of the Nevada falls. The location to get this image is just as you begin a set of steep switchbacks at the base of the falls. I stepped off the down hill side the trail onto a jumble of large granite rocks. There is very little mist at this location because the water is still moving down ward and has not hit the rocks at the base of the falls. I made my image on April 22, 2013 using tripod mounted, Linhof 4x5 field camera and 4x5 B&W sheet film.
