A 10' high by 4' square dark gray granite monument with a sphere as a cap piece honors the citizens of Huntington and in particular Fredric Taylor who died during the Civil War. The monument cost $600 which was financed by former Huntington resident Alfred J.Taylor, the brother of Fredric Taylor. The monument was maintained by Gen. Horace C. Lee Post 176 G.A.R. The monument is polished and inscribed on all four sides:
