The Police Department building is a white brick and stone building of the Greek Revival or Federal flare. It has a centered entrance with a fan light over the top of the door.
The history of the Police Department shows that it was first established in 1931 with a Constable to handle local traffic and events in the village and then remained as a part time constabulary until 1985 when a 24 hour constabulary was utilized and then in 1987 became a full time Police Department with a Police Chief and nine full time police officers and several part time officers to fill its ranks.
The responsibilities associated with our mission are many. They include enforcement of State, local, and Federal laws, protect life and property, and generally assist citizens in urgent situations.
We are expected to carry out these responsibilities diligently and courteously and to take pride in the service they provide.
We will at all times work in cooperation with community agencies and groups to promote understanding of and competence in our efforts in law enforcement.
On this site we have built a resource designed to give the user all the information he or she could obtain by visiting our office, or calling on the telephone, using the latest technology to make your experience more enjoyable.
