EN: The Frenken bridge of Waldenburgerbahn is the oldest railway bridge in Switzerland. It is 58 meters long and crossed the river Frenke at a height of about 15 meters.
The bridge was built in 1854 for the Swiss Central Railway. The lattice truss bridge was originally in two single lane parts. 1922 half of the bridge was demolished and replaced by a two-lane concrete bridge, the other half has been moved a few feet and now serves exclusively the narrow gauge railway WB, which had already used the original bridge since 1880.
DE: Die Frenkenbrücke der Waldenburgerbahn ist die älteste Eisenbahnbrücke der Schweiz. Sie ist 58 Meter land und überquert die Frenke in einer Höhe von etwa 15 Metern.
Die Brücke wurde 1854 für die Schweizerische Centralbahn gebaut. Die Gitterfachwerkbrücke war ursprünglich zweiteilig. 1922 wurde eine Hälfte der Brücke abgebrochen und durch eine zweispurige Betonbogenbrücke ersetzt, die andere Hälfte wurde einige Meter verschoben und dient seither ausschliesslich der Schmalspurbach WB, die seit 1880 schon über die ursprüngliche Brücke gefahren war.
