Right on State 116 is WEBSTER (2,188 alt., 134 pop.) built on an Indian mound from which relics have been taken. Webster was the seat of Jackson County until it was replaced by Sylva in 1913. The old courthouse serves as a store building. Nickel ore occurs in this section.

Webster today is a few houses along NC116. Current population was 363 in 2011. The old courthouse is gone. Mostly a bedroom community of Sylva. Coordinates are for the Webster Methodist Church which still stands in great condition.
