EN: The ruins of castle Altenberg are located on a hill east of Füllinsdorf. There are no written sources about the site, all that is known comes from archaeological findings.

The first castle was built around the year 1000, the builders are unknown, but they are supposed to have been members of the high nobility. After a fire in the 11th century the castle was rebuilt. From this time dates the mighty main building with a ground plan of 8 to 15 meters and a wall thickness of 2 meters. The courtyard had a length of 35 meters.

Altenberg was abandoned before the end of the 11th century and fell into disrepair. The barely visible remains were unearthed in the 1980s, studied and preserved.

DE: Die Ruine Altenberg befindet sich auf einem Hügel östlich von Füllinsdorf. Es gibt keinerlei schriftliche Quellen über die Anlage; alles, was bekannt ist, stammt von Ausgrabungsbefunden.

Eine erste Burg wurde um das Jahr 1000 erbaut, die Erbauer sind unbekannt, düften aber dem Hochadel angehört haben. Nach einem Brand im 11. Jahrhundert wurde die Burg neu aufgebaut. Aus dieser Zeit stammt das mächtige Hauptgebäude mit einem Grundriss von 8 auf 15 Metern und einer Mauerstärke von 2 Metern. Der Burghof besass eine Länge von 35 Metern.

Altenberg wurde noch vor dem Ende des 11. Jahrhunderts aufgegeben und verfiel. Die kaum noch sichtbaren Reste wurden in den 1980er Jahren ausgegraben, untersucht und konserviert.
