One of a number of historic memorials to those who made Nevada history. The Pony Express delivered mail twice weekly from St. Louis Missouri to Sacramento CA. Riders rode in relays, changing horses at relay stations. They rode through hostile territory, harsh weather, and dangerous conditions. The Pony Express lasted from 1860 - 1861, 18 months until the telegraph made faster communication possible.
News of Lincoln's election was delivered to Sacramento much faster than by stage coach.
