This pole is maintained by the State Park Service as a reminder of the flood prone Santa Fe River which flows through the Park. The River is so floor prone due to the fact that just about 3/4 of a mile from the point the river goes under ground through a massive sink hole. This sink hole restricts the flow of the river and during hurricanes and high rainfall periods the river backs up.
The following is the recorded floods on the pole.
1934 white No depth recorded
1984 blue 4 ft above flood stage
1991 yellow 3 ft above flood stage
1998 red 3 above flood stage
2004 orange 9 ft above flood stage
2012 green 6 ft above flood stage
Flood stage at Oleno is 22 feet
A short 9 second video of the 2012 flood at Oleno Stae Park Suspenison bridge is posted in the link section. Normal pictures will be posted of the river for comparison.

A picture showing the level along with any markers telling of what had occurred can be used. Better yet would be a picture of you or someone standing next to the high level mark, that would show if you would have been just wading or completely submersed.
