This preserve has one of the finest examples of climax hardwood forests remaining in Florida. The limestone outcrops and extreme changes in elevation provide conditions for many species of trees. Visitors will find sinkholes, creeks, rare plants, vast numbers of wildlife and prehistoric and historic sites. Hiking, horseback riding and off-road bicycling are popular activities in the preserve.
Located four miles northwest of Gainesville on State Road 232.
