Don't mistake this for the paid camping during the fair.
During the fair the fairgrounds offer pay camping and RV parking in many areas of the fairgrounds. These include electric and water as well as showers and such. These sites are cherished "zones" during the fair and long waiting lists exist to acquire them. However to accommodate those who can not fit into the campsites with facilities, in the back of the general parking area you will find "Camper City". At the given coordinates (west end of the large parking lot) you will find the free camping and short term RV parking. During the fair it is a small city of campers (otherwise it can get a little lonesome at other times of the season). Its all boon-docking, the only facilities are two porta pots but there are a pot load of campers clustered together sharing stories of fair experiences if you happen to be here during the fair. The air is often filled with the sound of generators humming along to the distant roar of the interstate located adjacent to the fairgrounds. It may sound awful but really its well worth all you have to pay to get in (nothing - LOL).
Number of tent spaces: Four or more
Access to Campsite: car
Special Features: Available during events as well as the rest of the summer season.
