First lead mine in the Mississippi valley opened at Mine La Motte about the year 1700.

St. Michael French village started about 1799.

Madison County apprved December 14, 1818.

Fredericktown laid out 1819.

Discovery of copper at Copper Mines 1838

Buckeye Copper Mines opened in 1844, became Missouri Cobalt in 1916

Battle of Fredericktwon fought October 21, 1861

Marquand founded 1869

Tin Mountain Mine opened 1870

Silver mined at Silvermine in 1877

Catherine Mine opened 1899
