This is one of many similar remote weather stations located along Interstate 80 through Nevada. The primary purpose of these stations is to monitor weather conditions so that the highway can be closed to traffic during severe weather conditions or that appropriate traffic warnings can be issued to the traveling public.
Instrumentation includes windvane, anemometer, thermometer, hygrometer, and precipitation detector. Data is transmitted via hard-wired data link.
