In Springfield, within Oak Ridge Cemetery, is Lincoln's Tomb, which has a sculpture of Abraham Lincoln's head that has an urban legend associated with it.
The tomb is located well within the cemetery; however, there are signs to the tomb, and the tomb is on a slight hill and towers above everything else. The head sculpture is in front of the entrance to the tomb. It sits on a granite pillar. The bronze head is much larger than life and shows a clean-shaven, somber and somewhat tired looking Lincoln. The surface is a dark bronze, except for his nose, which is shinier than Rudolph's (the red-nosed reindeer)! The nose is about six feet high, and, thus, you may need to lift shorter visitors so that they can reach it.
Gutzon Borglum sculpted the head. There is a plaque that also states that the original sculpture is in Washington, DC.
Come on, give the nose a rub!
