On the one hand, there's nothing really special about this little park; on the other, it is the type of neighborhood park near & dear to the hearts of the Baby Boomers who grew up in them.

This is a quintessential neighborhood park with playground. According to the Parks Board website, the park takes up 3-acres. Although it is next to a heavily travelled street, E. Seminole, there is a solid fence on that side so there is no danger of children running into the street. The entrance is off of S. Glendale Ave. The park is open from 5:30 a.m. till 11:00 p.m.
Because it is an older park (It was there when Mrs. Team BLakelylaw was growing up in Springfield 50 years ago.), there is quite a bit of shade. There is also a small pavilion with picnic tables and benches to sit on while watching the children play.
The playground equipment is a mix of old and new. The swings are still metal with the old rubber seats. There are modern hard plastic dinosaurs for climbing and riding. The slides are also of the modern type, made of colorful hard plastic.
