This small depot was constructed in June 2002, to serve as a waiting room for passengers boarding Amtrak's Heartland Flyer. This is a passenger train which leaves Oklahoma City every morning at 8:25, arrives in Pauls Valley at 9:31 am and travels on to Ft. Worth, arriving at 12:39 pm. It leaves Ft. Worth at 5:25pm, arriving in Pauls Valley at 8:21 pm, and on to Oklahoma City at 9:39 pm.
The residents of Pauls Valley were successful in saving the large Santa Fe depot south of this Amtrak station from demolition and that beautiful 1905 depot now houses the historical museum. When Amtrak began its Heartland Flyer route in June 1999, it became obvious that a waiting room was needed for boarding passengers. Through the efforts and donations of the City and many local citizens, this depot was built and dedicated in June 2002. It is a wood depot containing a waiting room and rest rooms, and is built in the same style as the main depot. The website below tells the story of the dedication and heart of the people of Pauls Valley.
