In Dunlap, along IL Route 88, is the Wheels O' Time Museum, which has a steam locomotive, several railroad cars, and other railroad equipment as part of its collection.

The Wheels O' Time Museum is located on the west side of IL Route 88 (Woodside Drive) about 2 miles north of the intersection with IL Route 6. As you arrive, you will see a large steam locomotive in view.

The museum is an ecclectic collection of items mostly related to transportation (for example there is a room of clocks in the main building). They have a significant collection of railroad items as part of their overall collection.

You enter through the main building and pay your fee. In the main building are several railroad related items. On the second floor are two model train layouts - both 'O' scale - with other toy train items exhibited. In the next room, there is a special exhibit with a model of the streamlined train, the 'Hiawatha' with other railroad items surrounding it. In a building behind the main building, railroad equipment such as 'speeder' inspection cars and hand pump cars are exhibited along with agricultural equipment. The main attration, though, is the 'full scale' steam locomotive and a mail car, two passenger cars, and a caboose. The cars are currently under restoration and are mostly empty inside. The steam locomotive has a staircase where you can climb into the engine cab.

The whole museum takes about two hours to complete, though you could easily spend more.
