Intersecting Ellipses with Parallel Chords is a stainless steel abstract geometric sculpture by Arthur Carter. It is a complex maze of intersecting lines arcs and chords formed by three equal size elliptical rings. One ring is a complete ellipse. A second ring is split into to equal chords. The third ring forms four arc segments and a square. The composition forms a unified whole which rests on two supports on a double pyramid, hourglass-shaped, stainless steel base.
The sculpture was created by Arthur Clark in 2003 and acquired by the Museum in 2010. It is located on a planted area by the northwest wall of the original museum building. A nearby plaque is inscribed:
