The Lane Victory is still operational and makes three trips each summer out to Santa Catalina Island and back. A ship may need to use its anchor(s) at any time in case of emergency and spares are needed in case the emergency goes from bad to worse and you lose one or both main anchors. This anchor is stowed aft on the starboard side of the ship.
