The original coffee house opened in 1903 and the interior was remodeled in the 1950's with a renovation in the late 1980's which was in keeping with the 50's style.

With soaring ceilings and huge 50's crystal chandeliers, the visitor is encouraged to linger over your coffee, read its huge selections of newspapers, people watch or gossip. The furniture is a mixture of 50's original and retro looking new, and the bow tied waiters still come from the more stuffy side of Viennese school service which can still be enjoyable once you have mastered the art ordering with them.
