The Buckaloons Campground (also known as the Buckaloons Recreational Area) is located along the Allegheny River near the small hamlet of Irvine PA and just a short distance west of the city of Warren PA.
This recreation area offers family campsites (utility hookups available) with picnic tables, fire rings and tent pads, paved loop roads, flush toilets, pressurized water fountains, hot showers, trailer dump station, playground, and boat launch. Double sites and group sites are also available. Amenities such as firewood and ice are offered at the site.
Some of the nice features of this campground include the fact that all roads within the campground are paved with speed bumps, which serves to eliminate dust associated with vehicular traffic. Also, the majority of sites are well situated, with a high degree of privacy thanks to the spacing between sites and the vegetation allowed to grow between the sites. We found the sites at Buckaloons to be some of the best we have seen anywhere.
This campground does not have any waterfront campsites nor is there a swimming beach as the river moves too swiftly to allow for safe swimming.
Buckaloons is located six miles west of Warren, PA just south of the intersection of U.S. routes 6 and 62.
Fees (2013)
$24.00/site (electric hookup) daily camping fee;
$18.00/site (regular) daily camping fee;
$5.00/vehicle daily launching/swimming fee;
(fees subject to change)
Most sites are available on a first-come basis, although a number of sites can be reserved. If coming without a reservation, be prepared to register and pay for your site at the self-serve station upon arriving at the park. Cash and personal cheques are accepted, credit cards are not. There is no service kiosk at Buckaloons, although campground hosts are usually available to provide assistance.
