The monastery from the 14th cent, was built in the place of a Gothic castle. It developed during the 18th cent, into a complex of Baroque buildings of unique value. K. I. Dienzenhofer was in charge of the reconstruction. The Church of Virgin Mary with a cemetery rebuilt in 1449 is the oldest preserved wooden religious building in Bohemia.
