The Railroad Historical Society website gives the date of this building as 1925. However, there is a bronze survey mark mounted vertically in the southeast corner, and US Gov't records say it was placed there in 1918.
Since being decommissioned as a railroad facility, the building has housed several organizations, such as a senior citizens center office. The present occupant is the Lee County Board of REALTORS.
At the site: Depot building, old train engine, and a performance stage. Nearby is the 1872 "Railroad House", at 100 Charlotte Avenue. This was the station agent's residence. Today, it contains a museum for the Town of Sanford.
