This location along the Dixie Highway is in Paoli, IN. It is the Orange County Courthouse located on the town square. It is the place where the Dixie Highway transitioned roads from what is now labeled as Hwy 37 (Indianapolis, IN to Paoli, IN) and what is now Hwy 150 (Paoli, IN to Louisville, KY).
The courthouse was built in 1850 and is the second oldest continually used courthouse in the state of Indiana. It would have been a nice sight to travelers along the Dixie as it would have been in the center of the first "major" town for travlers north since Louisville, KY and New Albany, IN.
