Památník obetem komunismu byl odhalen 3. cervna 1993 z iniciativy Konfederace politických veznu ve spolupráci se zástupci mesta a okresního úradu, ODS, KDU-CSL, KAN, ODA. Návrh a realizace památníku vzešly z drnovické dílny Kamenosocharství Haukvicová a spol. Byl zbudován na míste sochy V. I. Lenina. Toto bronzové dílo akademického sochare Miloše Axmana bylo demontováno 25. zárí 1990.

Victims of Communism Memorial was unveiled on June 3, 1993 on the initiative of the Confederation of Political Prisoners in cooperation with the municipal and district office, ODS, KDU-CSL, KAN, ODA. Design and implementation of a memorial emerged from the workshop Drnovice Kamenosocharství Haukvicová et al. It was built on the site of the statue of V. I. Lenin. This bronze work of sculptor Milos Axman was dismantled 25. September 1990.
