Those firefighters must drink a
LOT of coffee! Just look at the size of the coffeepot on the stand behind the firehouse. From the department web site:
The Kingsburg City Fire Department is a combination department that provides both fire and ambulance services, not only to the citizens of Kingsburg but also to those citizens in the surrounding unincorporated areas of Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties.
The Fire Department, established in 1912, currently protects a population of approximately 11,200. In 2006, the Fire Department handled over 1900 emergency calls involving fire, medical and other emergencies. The department also oversees the emergency operations plan for the City and assists with the City disaster plan.
Kingsburg was incorporated in 1908. Three years later in 1911, the city waterworks system was completed. It included 24 fire hydrants and a pump house. With a fire department in mind, the city council purchased a chemical engine, two hose carts, a combination hook and ladder, axes, crowbars and lanterns.
The Department has one full time Fire Chief, three full time Captain/Paramedics, six full time Firefighter/Paramedics, and up to twenty Paid Call Firefighters who are responsible for protecting life and property in emergency situations by providing effective fire and emergency medical service. This Department is fully staffed 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
The Kingsburg Fire Department also has a Firefighter Explorer program that is co-sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America.
Kingsburg Fire and Ambulance is equipped with one 2001 1250 GPM Engine; one 1981 1000 GPM Engine; a 1988 55' ladder truck; one 1986 1250 GPM fire engine, two ALS ambulances and one BLS ambulance.
