This island is actually a group of three islands connected by sandbars at low tide. They are just off-shore of the larger and more widely known Koh Tao. Koh Nang Yuan is leased from the Thai government by a private enterprise and the commercial development is evident, although much of the rustic charm is maintained. Its protected status has helped maintain the pristine waters and vital coral reefs with its fish and excellent snorkeling. Prices are very expensive here compared to neighboring Koh Tao, and during high season the hordes of visitors may make this destination less than a sensational experience.
