This Historic Hand Operated Sluice Gate is located at a small irrigation diversion dam on Summit Creek in the center of Smithfield.

It appears that this sluice gate has not been in operation for quite some time. The holding basin behind the diversion dam and the sluice gate has been completely filled by silt, rocks, and debris washed down to this point by the creek.
