Though they have a nice neon sign (the upper half, at least, is neon), the real attraction here is the dining car itself. Wish we could have stopped by later in the day to catch the sign at night.
Frank's Diners have become a legend in Spokane, having been voted "Best Breakfast" 14 years in a row as well as having won numerous "Best Diner" awards. This is for good reason, as they offer some dishes one would not expect to find in a "diner", such as Sirloin Steak Benedict with Creole Hollandaise Sauce, Pumpkin Spiced Belgian Waffle with Crème Brulé and Black Oak Smoked Rope Sausage.
The dining car itself, believed to be 100 years old this year, was once a Great Northern Dining Car. It is a Laketon, NO 4216. The first Frank's Diner opened in 1931 and this one opened some years later. Exactingly restored, the diner is gorgeous inside, appearing just as it did when it rolled from the factory 100 years ago.
