This is a favorite little NFS Campground of ours. We like to camp next to the river and swim and inner tube. This is also a favorite spot for fishing and white water rafting. We like to hike and this is a great basecamp for the many trails in the area. We recommend the Boulder Cave hike to families with kids.
Although Cottonwood is still near the highway, it has a bit more buffering than the others campgrounds further to the West. It is fairly primitive and probably better for tent campers than RV's. We don't see many RV's there, but we did see a couple of tent trailers. The toilets are pit toilets. Reservations are accepted and recommended as there are only 16 sites and it isn't that far from Yakima.
