Built in 1858, this one and one-half story house is described as one of the few remaining in Jacksonville that has a "saltbox" appearance due to the rear-addition roof line extending at the same angle as the roof of the main portion of the house. It is also known as the Minerva Armstrong House due to an early ownership dispute. G.W. Cool was one of seven early owners of the house and is thought to be responsible for much of the construction. A dentist, Cool and his wife arrived in Jacksonville around 1858 but may have left as soon as 1861 when the house was sold to Charles Williams. It is thought that C.C. Beekman lived in the house for much of the 1860's.
