Located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus next to The Quad, a contributing structure in this Historic District is the Mackay Science Building, erected in 1930. This building is one of 13 that are part of the University of Nevada Historic District.
The following verbiage comes from the University website that describes this building's history:
This Georgian-style building, designed by Reno architect Frederick De Longchamps, was built in 1920 to house the university's "teacher training" program. In 1959, the building was named to honor Dr. Reuben C. Thompson, who taught at the university from 1908 to 1948, and founded the Department of Philosophy. The building now houses several student services programs.
This building looks similar to in style with the nearby Peter Frandsen Humanities Building as well as the Mackay Science Hall, the Palmer Engineering Building and the Mackay School of Mines Building.
Frederick De Longchamps was a regionally-known architect who designed many great buildings in Reno and other parts of the state. You can read more on his life on Wikipedia and see a list of buildings and structures he designed over the years here.
