, this little ferry serves the otherwise isolated community of Glade (population 300). This is one of three ferries operated by Western Pacific Marine on the upper stretches of the West Arm. Downstream of the ferry is the first of seven hydro dams on the river, making this part of the river more of a lake than a river, fairly slow moving.

Glade Cable Ferry provides ferry services crossing the Kootenay River on Highway 3A, 22.5 km west of Nelson, to Glade. The crossing time is approximately 3 minutes one-way.

Maximum weight 109.04 Long Tons or 110,789.75 kg but may be lowered by weather and/or the river current.
Mobile homes may have some difficulty loading from the highway side because of a 90-degree turn. Please check before attempting.
