The wonderful Art Deco Natrona County Courthouse reflects the area's Indian, US Army, wildlife, and ranching heritage.
Blasterz LOVE all things Art Deco, ESPECIALLY when they are deeply connected to the local place.
The Natrona County Courthouse is all that and more -- in friezes on the outside, Indian Chiefs and 1870s Army Soldiers face off, recalling the Indian Wars.
On the wings of the courthouse beautiful friezes honor Wyoming';s history.
On the north wing, a frieze of settlers in covered wagons taming the prairie honor the Wyoming pioneer history. The left side of this frieze shows a settler arriving in a covered wagon. In the center - a city of the 1880s. On the right, a farmer uses an ox-drawn hand plow to break the prairie sod.
On the south wing, the left half of a frieze captures an Indian and his hunting pony running down a buffalo at full gallop, while the right half shows a cowboy lassoing a runaway dogie. These two scenes are divided by an oil derrick.
