These markers commemorating the founders of the Oregon Territory's provisional government at Champoeg in 1843 can be found scattered around the state. This one, on the grave marker for the Rev. J.L. Parrish, is located in Salem's historic Lee Mission Cemetery. The text of the marker reads:
