Although many people may laugh and think the three “C”s of Girl Scouts may start with the word cookies, they would be wrong. The three “C”s of Girl scouts have more to do with the traits which they are trying to foster in the girls as they are learning to become young women, courage, confidence, and character.
Courage is something each young woman needs, courage to overcome the trials they may face and courage to do that which is needed from them. Whether learned from trying to sell cookies to strangers, providing service to others or by standing for what is right in their everyday life, courage is a guiding principle.
Confidence is something which all young women need. The confidence to know they are of value to the world around them. They need confidence they know what is right and that they will be able to make a difference in their family, school, community and country.
Character is what it takes to do what is right, even when nobody seems to be watching or when it is not popular. Character rounds out the three “C”s as it is the way the young woman will show the confidence and courage which she has developed.
The mural is in the city park which is a great way to spread this message about what is needed for our community.
