Proper Description:
"A uniformed Confederate soldier stands facing south, grasping a rifle with both hands, the butt of the stock resting by his proper right foot. He wears a hat and a coat with a small cape. The sculpture rests on a limestone shaft adorned on the front with a relief of crossed sabers. The monument is flanked by the gravesites of eight people, including seven Confederate soldiers and one woman." Smithsonian American Art Museum
