Sistah's BBQ is noted as not being your typical Texas barbecue: Their meat is complemented with a slightly-sweet, slightly-peppery sauce that they call "Mississippi Barbecue." One can order meat by the pound, or they offer up dinner or sandwich plates of brisket, ribs, rib tips, sausage, chicken, and turkey legs. Those on a budget can get a sandwich for five bucks, and since they serve meat by the pound, one can pig out until their wallet is empty. On Fridays, they serve catfish, too, although they may offer it for lunch during the rest of the week, and chicken wings are available on Saturdays.
They have daily lunch specials -- pork chops are popular -- and besides the barbecue, they serve up good ol' Southern home cookin' that some might call soul food. The sides are almost as good as the main course, and they include collard greens, cabbage, mac and cheese, red beans and rice, black-eyed peas, yams, and green beans. Baked potatoes are available for those who prefer to go that route. A menu is available in the gallery, and they'll give you a nice, fresh piece of cornbread to go with your meal. If you dine in -- there are about ten tables here -- they'll still put your food into a to-go box, and drinks are either soft drinks in cans or tea or Kool Aid from a dispenser. Coffee is also available. If you still have room after your meal, dessert is available, and lots of folks like the sweet potato pie.
