This station, a NGS standard vertical control mark, is located in Redding CT. It is set horizontally in an exposed portion of rock ledge, located south from the south face of the old St. Patrick's Church sanctuary, and north from the north edge of the parking lot adjacent the sanctuary. The church property is located on the west side of Black Rock Turnpike (CT Rt. 58).
The NGS description is as follows:
DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1985
0.7 KM (0.45 MI) SOUTH FROM REDDING RIDGE.
0.7 KM (0.45 MI) SOUTH ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 58 FROM THE JUNCTION OF
CROSS HIGHWAY IN REDDING RIDGE TO THE MARK ON THE RIGHT, AT THE
SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE ST. PATRICK ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF REDDING
RIDGE, 28.8 METERS (94.5 FT) WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY,
5.4 METERS (18.0 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE CHURCH.
THE MARK IS ABOVE LEVEL WITH PARKING LOT.
Enter the church grounds from Rt. 58, and turn right to the north end of the parking lot and the old sanctuary. The mark is in plain sight on the exposed rock outcrop.
