ATTN beer lovers - there's now a microbrewery/brewpub in the building - The Philipsburg Brewing Company. They brew quite a variety of beers here, for example: Philipsburg American Wheat, Philipsburg Bad Finger Imperial Stout, Philipsburg Corners Porter, Philipsburg Czech One Two, Philipsburg Gonk Amber, Philipsburg Haybag Hefe, Philipsburg Incarcirator Doppelbock, Philipsburg NewlyRed Double Red, Philipsburg Otter Water, Philipsburg Raspberry Wheat and Philipsburg Tramway Rye Pale Ale. Anything there sound good?
They're not open late, closing at eight every night, but they have live entertainment, trivia nights and a bunch of other fun stuff going on. Another plus - the top of the bar is refrigerated to keep your beer cold - cool, what?
First known as the Hyde Block, this building was constructed by banker Joseph Hyde and his wife, Mary, in 1888. It housed the First National Bank until the silver crash of 1893. In 1904, Frank Sayrs purchased the building and it has since held a number of businesses including a tailor’s shop, drug stores, and a recreation center. The fine design of this two-story commercial structure features a chamfered, or beveled, corner with a modillioned metal cornice and pediment.
