The statue, found in excellent condition, is facing north from the main traffic circle. It is a bronze sculpture of a WW1 Army soldier holding a rifle fitted with a bayonet in his proper left hand. He wears the flat rimmed helmet characteristic of the era. His right hand is raised high while holding a granade. The soldier wears a back pack and has various equipment harnessed to his chest. Each of his legs are wrapped from his shoes up to his knees. Around his waist is a cartrage belt.

On the front of the plinth on which the soldier stands is the enscription "Spirit of the American Doughboy", below which is a short granite support into which an American flag has been engraved. Note that the flag only shows 48 stars, which would have been appropriate at the time of dedication.

Front plaque reads "Dedicated Nov. 11, 1937 to World War Veterans of Comal County 1917 - 1918. Donated by Mr. & Mrs. E. A. Clousnitzer."

Reverse plaque reads "Copyrighted 1934 by E.M. Viquesney - Sculptor. Spencer - Indiana".
