Marker Name: Peter Skene Ogden Park
Marker Text: Peter Skene Ogden was born at Quebec in 1794. He explored central Oregon for the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1825 and in December of the year discovered Crooked River not far from this spot. He died at Oregon City in 1854.
Land for this park was given to the State of Oregon by the Oregon Trunk Railway.
There is a second sign with bridge facts on the southeast tower.
This bridge constructed under cooperative agreement by The State of Oregon, the County of Jefferson, and the County of Deschutes. General contractors Kuckenberg & Wittman, Portland Oregon. Structural steel erectors Booth & Pomeroy Inc., Portland Oregon. Oregon State Highway Commission Engineers. 1926.
