With the extensive history of Halifax, there is surprisingly little information about the County Courthouse. It was constructed sometime between 1850 and 1874. One of the unique architectural feature of the courthouse is the unusual clock tower, which rises from the center of the building, is pained black and almost appears to be of a different architectural style than the courthouse itself. The clock is currently not functioning and is set at 8:00, which makes it correct twice a day, at least.
