The restaurant located approx one mile outside the city of Laurinburg, NC serves a buffet with all the fixin's for a down home treat of Eastern NC BBQ. There is always a choice of pulled or chopped bbq on the serving line.you should try his house made sauce. Just the right amount of heat. The vinegar based with red pepper concoction complements the meat and does not over power it. Homemade slaw, hushpuppies along with baked beans, candied yams tops off an out of this world bbq experience. Included in the buffet are veggies such as green beans, limas, corn, stewed and fried okra, sliced tomatoes. One also has a choice of southern fried chicken or fried shrimp. Friday nights, there is fried fish in the mix. Another delicacy that is on the buffet, for how would it be a southern buffet without this, is fried fatback. There isn't anything better than crunching a fried fatback skin after finishing a sumptuous meal at the General's. Oh yeah, before I forget, the dessert line is to die for. Homemade banana pudding, peach cobbler, strawberry short cake, pies, cakes, you name it, the dessert buffet is a dieter's nightmare. So many choices, too little time, he closes at 9 o'clock.
