EN: The house on Münsterplatz was built in 1528 as a meeting house for the canons. The cathedral school and the administration of the cathedral's masons were also housed in it. Between 1830 and 1832 the building was was modified and enlarged in neo-Gothic style by Johann Friedrich Huber for the Allgemeine Lesegesellschaft (General Reading Society), founded in 1787.
The Lesegesellschaft provides for its members 75,000 books, as well as dozens of magazines and newspapers. In addition, there are regular events in the halls.
DE: Das Haus am Münsterplatz wurde 1528 als Versammlungshaus der Domherren gebaut. Die Domschule und die Verwaltung der Münsterbauhütte waren auch darin untergebracht. Zwischen 1830 und 1832 wurde das Gebäude für die 1787 gegründete Allgemeine Lesegesellschaft von Johann Friedrich Huber im Neugotischen Stil umgebaut.
Die Lesegesellschaft stellt für ihre Mitglieder 75'000 Bücher, sowie Dutzende von Zeitschriften und Zeitungen zur Verfügung. Ausserdem finden in den Sälen regelmässig Veranstaltungen statt.
