I am honored to place this Waymark on the 20th anniversary of the South Canyon (commonly called Storm King Mountain) in Glenwood Springs. This monument is found in the Canyon Creek Estates in a mountain meadow. The boulders bear plaques with each of the fallen 14 names. At first, it appears the boulders were just 'there' and the plaques were added. Later we realized the layout is similar to how the firefighters bodies were found in South Canyon on Storm King Mountain(yes, we have hiked the trail to the memorial plaques; the terrain was too steep for us to hike to each members place of death). Storm King Mountain is just visible to the east from the meadow. Please note that there is a small grove to the west of the meadow where more of the memorials may be found.

Glenwood Springs promised to honor the 14 firefighters who lost their lives on July 6, 1994 and has upheld that promise. (visit link) to read about ceremonies held the week of July 1-7, 2014, the 20th Anniversary of the tragedy. Another memorial in Glenwood Springs to the Storm King 14 may be found at (visit link) . The companion memorial in Prineville, OR is at (visit link) .
