Dd 596 was built by the West Australian Government Railways Midland Workshops in 1946 as one of 10 "Dd" class 4-6-4T locomotives for Perth Suburban passenger train haulage, of the 10 built this is only one of two still surviving, albeit in a static display.
The locomotive is on display in the foodhall of the Gosnells Railway Markets Thursday to Sunday and public holidays from 1000 to 1800
