On a small plot of land in Reno, NV sits the "Grand Army of the Republic" Cemetary. Purchased in 1890 for a what is now a paltry amount by General O.M. Mitchel Post No. 69, it was converted to a beautiful buriel place for the members of that post who lost their lives in the Civil War. Unfortunately, time, neglect, and vandals took it's toll on the location. Finally, in the 1960s, the Daughters of Union Veterens got involved in a restoration and placed this memorial plaque here for the former men of the unit.
The Plaque reads:
"Dedicated to the memory of the one time members of Gen. O.M. Mitchell Post No. 69 "Grand Army of the Republic" 1861-1865 Who Sleep Here"
